Q: How accurate are the breath test results?

A: Our breathalyzers operate within ± 5% accuracy for every breath test result.


Q: How can I choose the best breathalyzer for me?

Q: How often do I need to calibrate my device(s) and how much does it cost?

A: It is recommended that you calibrate your breathalyzer once every year. Please contact your local service provider for more information on calibration costs.


Q: How do I get my device calibrated?

A: When a breathalyzer needs to be calibrated, contact your local service provider and ship the device prepaid to the service centre. Once the calibration is complete, the device will be shipped back to you.


Q: Do I need to use a mouthpiece and if so, can I reuse each mouthpiece?

A: Yes, you have to use a mouthpiece for all of the breathalyzers units, except for ALCOCHECK™. It is not recommended to reuse mouthpieces due to hygiene and potential damage to internal components in the device.


Q: What do the readings on the display mean?

A: The readings displayed on the breathalyzer shows the BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) level of the breath sample.


Q: Do the results on the display show BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) or BrAC (Breath Alcohol Concentration) levels?

A: Both terms are relevant to each other; however, some countries use BAC and some use BrAC.


Q: Are the sensors used in the breathalyzers the same sensor used by law enforcement devices?

A: Yes, they both use an industry certified fuel cell sensor.


Q: Can I use my breathalyzer outdoors during winter?

A: Yes, depending on the temperature threshold of the device. Please consult the instruction manual for further information.


Q: What is the best way to maintain my breathalyzer?

A: Store your device indoors, at room temperature when not in use. Ensure that the breathalyzer is not used/stored in extremely hot or cold environments or in direct light for prolonged periods of time.


Q: What happens if I leave my breathalyzer in my vehicle?

A: If a breathalyzer is left in your vehicle, there is a chance that it might not work efficiently. Consult the instruction manual for further information.


Q: Is there a warranty for my device? What does it cover?

A: Yes, there is a one-year warranty that is included when you purchase any breathalyzer that only covers factory defects. Damages caused by misuse or mishandling are the owner’s responsibility. If a device needs to be repaired outside of warranty, please ship it prepaid to a local service centre.


Q: What should I do if my device is malfunctioning?

A: If your device is still within the one-year warranty, you can ship it prepaid to the nearest service centre for repair. The device will be repaired or replaced if a factory defect has been assessed.

If the warranty has expired, we will assess the damage(s) and provide you with a quote.


Q: Can I extend the warranty for my breathalyzer?

A: Yes, you can extend the warranty for your breathalyzer by contacting your local service provider.

Q: What is an Ignition Interlock Device (IID)?

A: An Ignition Interlock Device is a device that prevents the vehicle from starting if the driver has alcohol in their breath.


Q: How does the Ignition Interlock Device work and why do I need one?

A: The driver first blows into the handset, which is connected to the vehicle starter. An alcohol-specific sensor then analyzes the breath sample and provides a reading of how much alcohol is present. If there is no alcohol present in the breath sample, the engine can be started.

You will need an Ignition Interlock Device installed into your vehicle if you intend on driving after a DUI conviction.


Q: Are there any standards to ensure that Ignition Interlock Devices are accurate and reliable?

A: USA NHTSA - Vol. 57 No. 67/ 1992 State Regulations (various)

Q: I got a DUI conviction. Who should I contact/what are the next steps I need to take?

A: If you were convicted of a DUI, you should first contact a lawyer. The lawyer will provide you with information for the next steps to take. If you are convicted of a DUI, you will have other options that will be available after a court hearing.


Q: Do you offer bilingual services?

A: Yes, we offer bilingual services. Our service center representatives are fluent in both English and Spanish.


Q: Will the Ignition Interlock Device damage my vehicle wiring?

A: The Ignition Interlock device will not damage the wiring in your vehicle because the installers are certified specialists. All of the vehicle wiring will be ensured that the vehicle can be started and driven properly before it is handed back to you.


Q: Will the unit lose all its memory if the battery is disconnected?

A: No, the memory will not be lost even when the battery is disconnected; all memory is stored on the device.


Q: Can others operate my vehicle while an Ignition Interlock Device is installed?

A: Yes, other people can operate your vehicle, but they would have to use the vehicle and device as it is set up.


Q: Will the requirements to take a “running retest” cause me to take my eyes off the road, creating a hazardous situation?

A: You would be instructed to pullover and complete a running retest in a safe location.


Q: What happens if my interlock equipped vehicle needs repair?

A: If your interlock-equipped vehicle requires repair, you would need to call your local service center to obtain a service code to allow the mechanic to start the vehicle without blowing into the device. You must also produce the receipt if a reset is required.


Q: What happens if I forget my routine service appointment?

A: The handset will display a reminder for your appointment. After 5 to 7 days of missing your appointment, the device will enter lock out and your vehicle would need to be towed to a local service center.
